Exciting news with the development of the new Urbanrevs Sheep to Shepherds program well underway and due for release in Q1 2023.
Cam Butler said, “Churches are more eager than ever to mobilise their congregations with the grace and mercy of Jesus.” The new course from Urbanrevs helps churches frame and deliver a very successful ministry model for their entire congregations.
Cam asked, “How does the average church attender take the message of the gospel of the kingdom to a volatile world?” “We often ask them to share the gospel with people and they just feel out of their depth.” “The biggest challenge for us as church leaders is that most followers of Jesus readily disqualify themselves and convince themselves, ‘It’s not my job!’ ‘I’ll get an expert in… “PASTOR!”‘ “They just don’t see themselves as shepherds.”
The Sheep to Shepherds course helps local church teams train their congregations to identify themselves as shepherds (which most don’t!) and not just sheep grazing on the grass. Cam said, “Followers of Jesus are not passive. They are active, intentional and authentic in their life and mission for Jesus.” “They are called to be shepherds in the community that Jesus has placed them into. Whether that’s their workplace, social setting, club, group, local community or school/university.” “We wanted to make the Urbanrevs course easily available to churches to mobilise their congregations.”
The Sheep to Shepherds course is based on the successful Urbanrevs Chaplaincy Course giving language and a framework more suited to a local church setting and for people living their faith organically day to day.
The Pending Format is
- MAIN PRESENTER Main Presenters are capable speakers/trainers with a heart for kingdom/community ministry. We provide specialised online training for all Sheep to Shepherd trainers, helping them with the ‘how-to’s’ of running the course. We also provide the church with all the resources (PPT, videos, speakers notes, handouts) free to use forever.
- GROUP FACILITATORS Group Facilitators are people who are capable of hosting group conversations, they don’t need to be experts of the content, although some understanding helps. The aim is one (1) GF for every 10-15 people.
- DELIVERY The course is delivered over ten (10) weeks. During the church service. Either, sequentially or with typical services dotted in between. We encourage keeping the preliminaries to a minimum and give the session 60-70 minutes of a 90 minute church service. Our experience has been that time flies – especially when breaking into groups and giving people the opportunity to interact with the text and ideas!
- FORMAT At first the Presenter is welcomed by the Pastor/Host, they then present the main session idea. Groups then break for 15-20 minutes. Everyone re-gathers, and some facilitators are invited to share feedback. The trainer then wraps up the ideas and main emphasis/principle.
- INTERACTIVE It’s important to have people interacting with the ideas and practical how-to’s. Kinesthetic learning is vital to the success of the Sheep to Shepherds program. We want to help people learn in a safe space to gain confidence to do it in an uncomfortable place.
- ONLINE ACCESS Most people will miss vital parts of the training. So it is highly beneficial for churches to offer free access to the Urbanrevs training by providing them with their FREE COUPON code.
- URBANREVS.CULTURE We are always looking at ways to help churches foster, in perpetuity, this missional culture. Part of our plan is to provide annual subscriptions to churches to receive the latest training updates, new training modules, and a way to ensure their congregations are continually living this vital kingdom-come culture. If you have any ideas or feedback please let us know!
Thanks for your prayers and support. We look forward to releasing the course early in 2023.

I completed the Urban Revs Community Chaplaincy Course and was so inspired by it, I went on to complete the ‘Certificate IV in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Care’. I would love to do the ‘Sheep to Shepherds’ course as an individual person. Is that going to be possible, or it is only going to be available to Church Pastors for Church Groups?
