1770: A Town Being Impacted by Community Chaplaincy

Many haven’t heard of the cuddly coastal Queensland town of Seventeen Seventy, sometimes written 1770. Perched between Bundaberg to the south and Rockhampton to the north 1770 and it’s nearby sister community of Agnes Waters are home to around 3000 people made up of retirees, sun-seekers and those working in the thriving Queensland mining industry.

Mick George said, “When I look at the Gospel stories of how Jesus completed His ministry, so much of His time seemed to be spent amongst the people as they went about their daily business. Sure, He went to the synagogue every Saturday, but the rest of His time was out within the community. Not a bad model to base a ministry upon.”
