If you are looking to become a community chaplain, sports chaplain, shopping centre chaplain or one of the other many business and local community based chaplains then this course is for you. Overall the course, made up of 17 lessons, can be undertaken rapidly in 5-6 hours.

The course units range from 8 minutes to 25 minutes with an average of around 14 minutes. You could complete the course in less than a day. While you can complete the course at a bare minimum in 5-6 hours it is recommended to give time to reflection and the quizzes. Therefore 8-10 hours is the preferred minimum time for the course. Better still you can spread the course over 8-10 night sessions if you are completing it after hours or in a small group.

No. Urbanrevs is not an evangelism course per se. However, we are passionate about helping people share their faith about Jesus in an authentic and relevant way.

Urbanrevs comes at it from a different angle. When it comes to seeing Jesus’s grace and mercy intersect our community it often requires that we consider how we might respond in various ‘roles’. Maybe a priest? Maybe a pastor/shepherd? As God’s spokesperson? Sometimes as an ambassador, or simply just being present. That is, ‘Christ in us, the hope of Glory’. Sometimes people need a pastor, a prophet, a priest, or a prince. However, they always need your presence to be able to respond to Jesus. You’ll be ready no matter what is required. The impact is obvious and lasting. God’s kingdom comes to people powerfully.

Urbanrevs holds strongly to a Jesus-centred, bible-orientated, evangelical Kingdom-come world view. At the most rudimentary we confess the Apostles Creed. However, we intentionally remain strongly neutral and unaligned when it comes to denominations and theology. Our network is made up of all colours and brands of the Christian church across the globe. Urbanrevs is passionate about effective missiology and ultimately helping God’s people become intentional, authentic and effective in inviting those who are out of relationship with God to find it by faith in God’s only son Jesus Christ. This is more than a fleeting transaction – it is a living, present relationship with our Creator and Savior, Jesus Christ.

For those seeking certification, Urbanrevs provides trainees with a bespoke registered Urbanrevs Certificate upon successful completion of all our courses. Urbanrevs ministry partners willingly accept these certificates as contributing to their recognition of prior learning (RPL). For example, Life Bridge Community Chaplaincy. If your association or mission would like to discuss ministry partnership please have them contact us.

It’s our hope that for most people undertaking Urbanrevs the authenticity and effectiveness of our training results in genuine recognition.

Unfortunately Urbanrevs doesn’t provide CPE credit upon completion. However, if you’re keen to become an official chaplain, or what is usually referred to as a ‘Professional’ Chaplain we would encourage you to pursue further training like CPE or various certificate courses such as a Certificate 4 in Chaplaincy. It’s helpful to note that Urbanrevs is wholly focused on the ‘Community’ sector not the ‘Public’ or ‘Private’ institutional sector like hospitals, education and emergency services. (However, we regularly get told by those groups that they really enjoy the practical nature and paradigm of Urbanrevs training.)

The course has been designed for you to work through the content as an individual (with a workbook) or as a group (with the workbook and a local facilitator).

We encourage churches and agencies undertaking the course in groups to have a facilitator. Facilitators can lead conversations around the course content. They can also assist with role playing. A facilitator can be any mature Christian leader, pastor, trainer, small group leader.

If you are undertaking the course alone and would like a facilitator, we would encourage you to ask your church to help by running a group with a facilitator. Alternatively, why not ask a friend to join you in the course and discuss the reflection questions provided in the workbook.

Yes. You can upgrade from the small group to the large group. Just deposit the balance ($249.00) via our Stripe payment page or scan the QR code here (with your phone/device), answer the two qualifying questions (your church and course coupon code) and your upgrade will be later confirmed.

You can do the following when running groups at church…

• When you signup for your church or group account Urbanrevs will provide you with a PowerPoint Slide with a unique coupon code
• You can then provide that coupon to your leaders or every member of your congregation
• They can then register individually (using the coupon) and get the training for no cost for 12 months – with full and unlimited access to the course as many times as they like
• They can undertake the training individually or in a small group (or both if they miss a session!)
• NB Signed up students receive a certificate at the end of the course, but this is not necessary in a group setting
• Your group facilitator can then run the Urbanrevs training on a TV (using their Urbanrevs account) and discuss the lesson ideas (2-3 per session) using the provided workbook
• Some churches have even run Urbanrevs in a large group classroom format with 30-50 students with a projector and pastoral trainer

Note: Please feel free to call the Urbanrevs training anything you like! Many churches have called it The Power of Presence or Kingdom Mission… It’s also highly recommended to repeat the training for at least 3 years to begin to inculcate a culture of kingdom mission in your congregation.
